What the Fair Go max bet rule says
Fair Go's terms put it in one sentence: $10 per bet during bonus playthrough; higher bets can void promotion winnings. Two parts of it matter. First, the limit applies per bet, so a single oversized spin is enough to break it; your average stake is irrelevant. Second, it applies during bonus playthrough, from the moment a bonus is credited until its wagering is finished.
From the casino's side, the rule stops players using bonus money for a handful of huge bets and walking off with a lucky win. From your side, it works like a speed limit: it sets the fewest bets a bonus can take to clear, and it's the one rule you can break in a single tap.
What counts as one bet
The safest reading is the total amount you put at risk on one spin, hand or round. Game by game:
| Game | What counts as the bet | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| Pokies | The total bet shown on screen, across all lines | The MAX BET button, which on many pokies sets a stake far above $10 |
| Pokies with a gamble feature | Your spin stake, then whatever you put at risk in the gamble | Gambling a win puts a new amount on the line |
| Video poker | Coins per hand × number of hands | Multi-hand play: play 1 to 100 hands at once |
| Blackjack | Your stake plus any double or split | A $6 hand doubled becomes $12 on the table |
| Roulette | Every chip on the layout for one spin | Spreading chips across many numbers |
| Lobby jackpot | Your spin plus the $0.01 opt-in | A $10 spin with the jackpot on comes to $10.01 |
Fair Go's terms don't break the rule down game by game, and we haven't seen how it treats doubles or side bets in practice. So take the cautious line: keep the most you could put at risk in one round at $10 or less. Our Lobby Jackpots page covers the side-bet question in more detail.
Multi-hand video poker: the easiest way to break the rule
Fair Go's video poker lets you play up to 100 hands at once. Each hand is a separate stake, so the bet on one deal is the coin value times the number of hands:
| Hands | Biggest stake per hand |
|---|---|
| 1 | $10 |
| 5 | $2 |
| 10 | $1 |
| 25 | $0.40 |
| 50 | $0.20 |
| 100 | $0.10 |
It's easy to set a comfortable $1 coin, switch to 25 hands for fun and find you've staked $25 on a single deal. Check the total before every deal while a bonus is live.
The fewest bets a bonus can take
Because no bet can go over $10, every bonus has a minimum number of bets: the betting required divided by the cap. It's a floor, not a target, since betting at the cap makes results swing hardest.
| Offer | Betting required | Fewest bets at $10 |
|---|---|---|
| WELCOME on $100 | $6,000 | 600 |
| WELCOME on $200 | $12,000 | 1,200 |
| BUSHMAGIC on $60 | $5,400 | 540 |
| BUBBLE15 spins that win $20 | $1,200 | 120 |
Smaller bets take longer but don't change the average cost, which depends only on the total wagered. The wagering calculator shows the spins needed at any bet size, and our wagering requirements guide explains where the betting totals come from.
When the limit stops applying
The rule is tied to bonus playthrough. Once the wagering is complete, or if you deposit without claiming any bonus, the $10 limit no longer applies as far as Fair Go's terms go. Two cautions. Make sure the wagering really is finished: ask live chat if your account doesn't show it. And a new bonus claimed later starts a new playthrough with the limit back in force. A deposit with no bonus also keeps you in line for Fair Go's cashback if it busts.
A safe setup on your phone
- Set your stake before the first spin, and check the total bet, not the line bet.
- Leave the MAX BET button alone while a bonus is live.
- Skip the gamble feature until you've finished wagering.
- Check hands × coin before every multi-hand video poker deal.
- Turn off any autoplay setting that raises the stake after a win.
- Switch off the lobby jackpot, or keep spins below $10 with it on.
